Awesome 2012

The year 2012 has been both a happy and sad year for me. As I was looking back at the photos of everything that happened this year, I could not help but laugh and tear up a bit in every event. I work in a fast pace but I really am a very nostalgic person. A day will never pass without at least an hour of my personal reflection of the things that I did. If I enumerate every memorable thing that happened to me this year, it would take ages and I wouldn’t want to miss welcoming the New Year. So, I decided to chop it off to ten.
I’d say this year must be the year where I found my confidence and courage. I know, I sound like a beauty queen. Oh wait! It’s because I joined a beauty pageant this year. Tehee…Here’s my list:
10.   Miss UP Cebu 2012 (finding my confidence and courage)
It was just one the crazy things I listed on my bucket list. All I wanted to do was to join the screening for the heck of it. I was just curious about what happens during beauty pageant screenings. I’m grateful for that experience because it gave the confidence to do photo shoots (There would be no ‘Aimless Wandering’ fashion blog without it), answer the Q &A with grace and a perfect smile and to become socially aware.

9. “Seguro ang Pancit” play and “A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino” short film
Both acting stints gave me a chance to show my talent. When I stepped into college, I left all my artistic pursuits for personal reasons but I guess, I can never really forget the things I truly love. I am more grateful for the chance to work with great people. I started acting in theatre when I was nine years old. I usually get the minor roles before but I was shocked when I was given major roles this year.
Modesty aside, we got the major awards. Entertaining people will always be my main goal but getting recognition from other people gives a rewarding feeling. It makes me forget the long days of filming or practicing and the weeks of memorizing the lines (I seriously hate that part).

8.       Aced an exam in Math
If you follow me on twitter, you would know how much I complain if I have an upcoming exam in Math or how desperate I am to get a passing score. Yes, I am one of the many poor souls who rely to ‘hope’ and ‘guess’ methods in solving equations.
Imagine my joy when I saw this score! Sure, it wasn’t perfect (Math wizards please refrain from laughing) but I can still remember how I felt that day. I felt like some kind of bada** math genius for a day. Sigh. I can only dream. Please let me celebrate this one chance of mathematical glory. I did not earn it in a snap though. I worked hard for it. I was not able to sleep for days because of that exam. I did not even sleep the night before ‘my judgment day’.
Woot! A miracle! :D

7.       Launching of my blog
How can I ever forget this? I do hope I can update it often.

6.       UP Freshies’ Night 2012

It's an annual event for freshmen made by the UP SAGABAY (an organization to which I am part of). It was my first chance to direct an event. With all of my brothers' and ssisters' efforts, it was successful! :)
Stressed is an understatement

7.       Creative and daredevil opportunities
Prod work, published articles, experimenting on a new hair color, make-up and hosting stints... ugh! What a busy year!

4.       Good grades
               Who doesn't love 'em?
I love my GWAs!

3.       Strengthening family ties
Growing up, I was always the hard-headed and sort of the rebellious one. The thing that I regret the most would be giving my family those headaches before. As I grow older, I appreciate my family more. (Miss USA lang? hehe)

2.   Finding the best buds
How will I ever survive this world without them? :D

1. Moving on
My granduncle and grandfather passed away earlier this year. I just ended my 4 year relationship with my boyfriend. It's been a struggle but we have to move on, right? Let's face the new year with a smile and be grateful for everything!

Happy New Year everyone!

Fabulous Christmas

It's fun spending Christmas with family, awesome friends and even nice strangers. Everyone is kind and happy. There's just so much love and generosity. This is the BEST Christmas I ever had for such a long time. My family never liked spending Christmas after my uncle died during Christmas AND his birthday eight years ago. (May he rest in peace)
I'm glad that this year I felt that we have finally moved on. We even had noche buena together! (Imagine my smile while writing this blog post). I'm so sorry for the no-so-good photos, I enjoyed myself so much that I did not even bother thinking about the quality of the photos. *puppy eyes

What I do hate during the holidays is that I gain so much weight from all the parties, reunions and buffets. I'm such a sweet tooth I can't even... *sigh* I really have to exercise a lot after this vacation. TT

Celebrating the holidays need not to be expensive or outrageous. All you gotta do is be with good company (and endless FOOD SUPPLY, just kidding). The photo below shows me and my beloved lola. We were both wearing electric pleated skirts last Sunday. Did I mention we're also wearing the same lipstick shade and nail polish? She's 84 but still critics trends like an immortal fashion police. Sure, she gets cranky (must be the age) at times but I love her so much. She's getting old but I really wish it's not her last Christmas with us.

Ooookay! Before I cry a river, let's shift to a lighter topic. Have a FABULOUS Christmas and spend NEW YEAR with a BLAST!

Feel the Yuletide

Yey! Can you feel the Christmas air? Been busy lately that's why I wasn't able to update immediately. Peace? *puppy eyes*
Anyway, move on to my outfit. I received this sheer top and lace shorts from my grandmother as an early Christmas gift. I swear my lola is the most fashionable woman ever seen. She's 84 but still wears heels. (She's used to wearing 4-6 inches but my mom would not allow it anymore so she settling for 2-3 in.) I know, she's amazing.
I wore this during my friend's birthday. She said we had to wear a dress but I wasn't in the mood to wear skirts. So, I came up with this look. Yes, I was wearing shorts but it still looks formal and dressy for the occasion, right?

I just had to sneak in my outfit shot this day even if it was super busy. The lace shorts is just lovely. I can pair it with a lot of tops. I'm loving sheer tops right now because it looks formal but you won't look too stuffy. This necklace is actually a belt. Hehe. I use it as a bracelet, necklace or a belt. Accessories allow me to be resourceful.

Thanks to Apple for taking these shots in five minutes (?) It was that quick. Happy holidays everyone! :)

Ombre

I'm back! After weeks and weeks and weeks of hiatus, I'm blogging again and I will try to keep it updated. *determined face*
A lot happened during my hiatus. All of my photos went kaput! (All meant EVERY PHOTO I KEPT FOR THREE YEARS! T.T) Last semester was crazy busy. I had to start from scratch for my blog entries and I'm busy with my online store. I promise I will launch the first collection within this month.
Now, let's proceed to my outfit. Lately, I noticed that florals, pastels and lace invaded my closet. If only my fourteen year-old self will see my current closet, she'd shrivel up and die (I'm not joking). For years, I collected black, edgy and studded pieces before I started experimenting on feminine/'girly girl' styles.
My new ombre hair says hi! It's been months since I really wanted to bleach my hair. I just DIY-ed it and I'm really glad with the results! Woot!

To make my hair stand out, I decided to go back to my basic black ensemble. As usual, I was in a hurry so I picked up this animal printed top to make the look interesting and not plain.

What's so cool about this top are the studs and shiny beads. Print + Studs+ shiny beads = what more could I ask for in a top?! I also paired this top with a pair of leggings since it's a long top.
This photo was just taken randomly by my ambush photographer, Aeda. She said she wanted a levitation shot and I just jumped when she told me so. Ick! Sorry for the awkward pose but I love how my hair swayed in that photo.

On a different note, the search for the next Miss UP Cebu 2013 will be starting SOON! Please like this page for updates. This event is brought to you by B&B Productions (to which I am part of). It's gonna be our biggest production ever and I'm pretty excited about it. I was a contestant last year and it's really different when you're now a part of the production. :)

A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino

Just last Saturday, we finished shooting a short film for our Literature class. We chose Nick Joaquin's "A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino" hence the title of my blog post. We had to shoot it for just two days since my groupmates and I were all busy.
It was my first time to act in front of the camera. Boy! It was really different! I really find it more comfortable doing theater. I started out in theater when I was nine and I guess the transition from theater to film was a bit of a shock to me.
Anyway, my first experience was super fun and I had a blast working with my groupmates. Sorry if the quality is not that good since I was just using my camera phone. (Bringing camera is just to much of a hassle for me that day.)

Welcome to our set! We had to find an old house because of the setting of the story. Lucky for us, we found one and the owners were very kind. They even provided us free lunch! :)

That's me and Entine! We portray the roles of the old maids, Paula and Candida. That explains the 'grey hair' on her. Btw, my 'loveteam' in this story took this photo. It was funny doing the scenes with Neil because he felt intimidated! He's a year younger than me and he treated me like his ate. Haha. I also did the hair and make up on everyone.

I actually took this one without Entine's permission. hehe. We were on our break when I snapped this photo. We were all kinda tired since we had to start shooting early in the morning and ended in the evening.

On September 28, 2012, we will have our very first Filipino Play/Film Festival . Here's the official poster for our short film. Please do help me in winning the People's Choice Award by hitting the like button. :) The link is in here. Every like counts! Thank you!

Happy Pills

As promised earlier, here are the looks that my friend Rovie and I styled. I also did the make-up and took these photos. Lala was kind enough to volunteer as the model. The shoot is for Rovie's online shop Happy Pills. Please do check out the shop! :)

The location of this shoot is filled with insect and all those creepy crawlers but it didn't keep us from finishing the shoot. Our model and photographer even suffered ant bites. Oooh! The things that we do for the love of fashion!

Feeling Like a Lady

I've been very busy lately and I forgot to update my blog. T.T Aside from my acads, I also had to do some make-up, styling and production work on the sides which made my schedule crazier. (Will post my styling projects later.)
When you have busy schedule like mine and you have little time to think of an outfit, choose pieces that's got print and play with colors.
I really am feeling extra feminine these past few weeks if you've noticed. I just discovered that almost half of my closet consists of floral pieces-- tops, shorts, skirts and even shoes!

Forgive the eye bags, please. I had to sleep late the night before that. Anyway, If you noticed, the blouse I'm wearing has interesting sleeve details with the tiered lace making it very feminine. When I saw this blouse, I just imagined pairing it with something feminine, too! Luckily, I found these pair of shorts (yes, those are shorts) in my mama's old closet again! I just love everything and anything vintage! (Check out your mom's old clothes, too! You'll find very interesting clothes.)
As usual, I piled up silver bangles and chunky stud earrings. I love how this blag bag matches almost anything I wear! My boyfriend gave it to me. I just love everything he gives. I swear he's got greater sense of style.
My highlights are starting to fade now and I'm thinking of trying out ombre hair. :) Maybe next week?
Thanks to Casey, my resident blog photographer! :)

PS:
My baby brother and I love staying up late and share songs we love. This is one of my fave songs and it just keeps repeating on my playlist lately. When I shared this to him, he got obsessed about it. I hope you like it, too. :D

Lazing Around

I can almost smell finals week for the students like me. Exams, reports, papers and a little bit of cramming will be plaguing me in the coming weeks. Pray for me that I survive another semester. :D

Let's proceed to my outfit, I call this my 'Lazy Busy Outfit'. When I wake up late and forget to prepare my clothes the night before, I usually bring out loose white shirts, shorts and this hat. It's a no-brainer combination but it still looks good.

I have a lot of white shirts but I really love the print of this one. I also love the fabric. My shorts are one of the many DIY creations of my mama again. As usual, I wore my battered sneakers. The hat is actually from my friend, Alya. Hats really add character to any outfit.
Hype this look on Lookbook: Here

We may all be busy but don't forget to chill out and fill your life positivity. This is one of my fave songs by Jason Mraz and it never fails to give me that feel-good vibe. Hope you'll enjoy it, too! :D
